Setcircle Alpha is an alpha version of our peer-to-peer marketplace for prop & decor sales and rentals in Los Angeles. Our team is diligently working on ongoing development. We value the input of our community and encourage you to message us about how we can improve our platform further.

Q: Is the platform free to use?

A: Yes! There are no subscription or listing fees. It's always free to list your items on Setcircle, and our team helps upload them to maintain the highest quality control.

Buying and selling: connect directly with buyers and keep 100% of your sale.

Rentals: a service fee is shared across both sides — renters pay a 10% service charge included in their checkout total, and owners pay a 15% commission taken from their earnings, which deposits directly into your bank account. Founding members keep 100% of their rental earnings their first year, with no commission taken.

Q: What can I expect in the Alpha version of the platform?

A: Our alpha version is designed to showcase the foundational elements of our marketplace and will have all the core modern features essential for a seamless user experience. This initial release is the bedrock we'll use to build and refine our platform.

As we progress to the beta phase, our focus will shift towards expanding and enhancing these building blocks. Expect the beta version to introduce additional features, improvements, and optimizations based on user feedback gathered during the alpha stage. This iterative approach allows us to refine and evolve our marketplace in collaboration with our valued user community.

Q: How do rental periods work?

A: Listings are priced weekly by default.

Each weekly rental includes up to 8 total days: a 7-day rental period plus an additional 1-day grace period for returns by noon PT.

For example, on the weekly rate, if a renter picks up their order on a Thursday, their 7 rental days run Thursday through the following Wednesday. The following Thursday is the renter's "grace" day to return props by noon.

Owner's also have the option to add a day rate. When owners offer both, renters are automatically charged whichever is cheaper for their dates — so short rentals stay competitive and longer ones still bill weekly.

Day rate rentals run on the same rental system: the period begins on the day of pick-up with an extra "grace" day to return props by noon PT.

Users can view and rent items as early as the next day, depending on owner availability and approval.

Q: How does buying / selling work?

A: We know that sometimes you’re looking to part with a prop or decor piece permanently — or to purchase something outright. That’s why we’re excited to share that our Alpha version includes a buy & sell feature, completely free to use — no transaction fees, ever.

Think of it as an elevated Facebook Marketplace designed specifically for props and decor. View our full Buying / Selling Guide in our Help Center.

Q: What happens if my props get damaged on a rental?

A: You can view our full Rental Insurance / Damages Guide in our Help Center. Our alpha and subsequent beta launch is tightly controlled to ensure maximum protection for our partners. Every new member/renter on the site completes a verification process.

When we create your listing, we work with you to set replacement values for each item that are clearly visible to the renter. If something unforeseen does happen, a break-it-you-buy-it policy is enforced, consisting of two tiers for smaller and larger damages beyond normal wear and tear. The replacement value is due immediately from the renter. If you need to file a claim, our dedicated customer service team will work with you and the renter to ensure the issue is properly resolved.

Valuing your props and belongings can be a tricky task for one-of-a-kind items, so please use discretion when listing your treasures, as accidents can happen.

Q: Is my data protected?

A: Yes! Your personal data will never be sold. We share it only where it's necessary to run the marketplace, such as with our payment processor.

Other members see only what's needed to decide whether to rent from you: your name, profile picture, bio, reviews, and the general area of your listing. Before a booking, your listing appears on the map as an approximate area, not an exact pin. Your full address is shared with the renter only once a booking is confirmed. Your email address, phone number, and payment details are never visible to other members.

We partner with Stripe, a PCI-compliant processor used by millions of businesses worldwide, to handle payments and payouts. Your card and bank details are stored by Stripe with bank-level encryption — we never see or store them, and neither do other members. Funds are held securely until the rental is complete, then transferred to your connected bank account.

Q: Can I cancel a rental reservation, and what are the associated policies?

A: Yes! View our full Rental Cancellation Policy in our Help Center. Additionally, you always have complete power over your rentals. You have the flexibility to accept or decline requests based on your availability. Easily set unavailable dates or cancel a rental if your plans change, ensuring you are always in control of your items.

Q: Why does my listing need to be approved before it goes public?

A: Setcircle is open to anyone looking to browse, rent, or purchase props—and anyone can create a listing. However, all listings must be reviewed and approved by our team before they go live.

During our alpha phase, this approval process helps us maintain a high standard of quality across the marketplace. Each listing is reviewed to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Setcircle’s visual and community standards. This extra step helps create a more trusted, reliable experience for both renters and sellers.

We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to build and refine the platform.

Q: Will Setcircle ever launch outside of LA?

A: We hope so! That all depends on our users and the demand for our platform. We would love to expand one day.
