Setcircle Alpha is an alpha version of our peer-to-peer marketplace for prop & decor sales and rentals in Los Angeles. Our team is diligently working on ongoing development. We highly value the input of our community and encourage you to message us about how we can improve our platform further.


Q: Is the platform free to use?

A: Yes! There are no subscription or listing fees. We use a commission-based marketplace model, ensuring our users never lose money. We currently take a 30% fixed transaction fee to cover our service and are working on lowering this number further in our upcoming launch phases.

Q: What can I expect in the Alpha version of the platform?

A: Our alpha version is designed to showcase the foundational elements of our marketplace and will have all the core modern features essential for a seamless user experience. This initial release is the bedrock we'll use to build and refine our platform.

As we progress to the beta phase, our focus will shift towards expanding and enhancing these building blocks. Expect the beta version to introduce additional features, improvements, and optimizations based on user feedback gathered during the alpha stage. This iterative approach allows us to refine and evolve our marketplace in collaboration with our valued user community.

Q: How does weekly rental work?

A: Props are rented and invoiced on a weekly basis - a rental period begins on the day of pick-up for 7 days with one extra “grace” day to return props.

Users can view and rent items as early as the same day if sellers accept.

For example, if you pick up your order on a Thursday, your props would be due back on the following Thursday. The following Friday would be considered your “grace” day. If the props are not returned by the end of day Friday we reserve the right to charge a late fee for up to an additional week.

Q: How does buying / selling work?

A: We know that sometimes you’re looking to part with a prop or decor piece permanently — or to purchase something outright. That’s why we’re excited to share that our Alpha version includes a buy & sell feature, completely free to use — no transaction fees, ever.

Q: What happens if my props get damaged on a rental?

A: You can view our full damage protocol policy here. Our alpha and subsequent beta launch is tightly controlled to ensure maximum protection for our partners. Every new member/renter on the site completes a comprehensive ID verification process.

When we create your listing, we work with you to set replacement values for each item that are clearly visible to the renter. If something unforeseen does happen, a break-it-you-buy-it policy is enforced, consisting of two tiers for smaller and larger damages beyond normal wear and tear. The replacement value is due immediately from the renter. If you need to file a claim, our dedicated customer service team will work with you and the renter to ensure the issue is properly resolved.

Valuing your props and belongings can be a tricky task for one-of-a-kind items, so please use discretion when listing your treasures, as accidents can happen.

Q: Is my data protected?

A: Yes! Your data will never be sold or disclosed. We prioritize your privacy and security to foster a secure and trustworthy environment for our users.

Our platform ensures that only limited information is shared with other members. Before initiating a transaction, fellow members can only view essential details such as your name, profile picture, bio, and general vicinity of your location.

Only once a transaction is in progress can the renter access your listing address.

Q: Can I cancel a rental reservation, and what are the associated policies?

A: Yes! View our full cancellation policy here. Additionally, you always have complete power over your rentals. You have the flexibility to accept or decline requests based on your availability. Easily set unavailable dates or cancel a rental if your plans change, ensuring you are always in control of your items.

Q: Why does my listing need to be approved before it goes public?

A: Setcircle is open to anyone looking to browse, rent, or purchase props—and anyone can create a listing. However, all listings must be reviewed and approved by our team before they go live.

During our alpha phase, this approval process helps us maintain a high standard of quality across the marketplace. Each listing is reviewed to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Setcircle’s visual and community standards. This extra step helps create a more trusted, reliable experience for both renters and sellers.

Q: Will Setcircle ever launch outside of LA?

A: We hope so! That all depends on our users and the demand for our platform. We would love to expand one day.
